The Hydro Collection from Elyse Graham is inspired by the grooves and patterns that waterways make through the landscape as seen from above. The layers of gradation in the pigment on the exterior of the vessels reference topographical maps. They take queues for their palette from the rivers for which the pieces are named.
Each vessel is hand-cast with hydrocal plaster inside of a unique balloon shape. The interior of each piece is poured with layers of resin, making it waterproof. We have developed a unique process for pigmenting the exterior of the vases that is based on the technique used for marbling paper. Each vessel is sealed with a UV resistant acrylic coating.
Much like the rivers that inspire them, the pattern on each piece is unique.
