The Custom Engagement Ring Process
Every custom ring begins with a conversation. Together, we'll explore your ideas, select your stone, refine your design, and create a piece that reflects your individual style and story.
From your first consultation to the finished ring, here's a closer look at what to expect along the way.
1. Discover Your Perfect Center Stone
The center stone is often the starting point of your design, and finding the right one is an exciting part of the process.
We source natural diamonds, lab-grown diamonds, and colored gemstones through our extensive network of trusted industry partners.
Not sure where to begin? We'll walk you through different shapes, sizes, carat weights, and gemstone options to help you discover what feels right for you.
Our in-store sample collection allows you to compare shapes and sizes in person, making it easier to envision how each option will look on your hand.
Once we've narrowed down your preferences, we'll source a curated assortment of stones for you to view and compare before making your final selection.
Already have a special stone? We can also explore incorporating your own diamond or gemstone into your custom design.
2. Bring Your Vision to Life
Once you've selected your stone, the creative process begins.
During your design consultation, we'll get to know your style, inspiration, and preferences. We'll discuss everything from your budget and metal selection to your setting style, band width, proportions, and overall profile.
Bring your inspiration photos, Pinterest boards, sketches, or examples of rings you love. Even if your ideas aren't fully formed, we'll help you identify the details that matter most.
From there, our manufacturing partner develops detailed computer-aided design (CAD) renderings that allow you to see your ideas take shape.
These digital drawings give you the opportunity to explore proportions, visualize the setting, and make adjustments before a physical model is created.
We welcome your feedback throughout the design stage. Whether you'd like to adjust the band, refine the setting, or change a small detail, we'll work with you to create something that feels right.
Unlimited CAD revisions are included in your design fee before final approval, giving you the freedom to refine your ring without additional CAD revision charges.
3. Experience Your Ring Before It's Made
One of the most distinctive parts of our custom design experience is the opportunity to see your ring in physical form before it goes into production.
Once your CAD design has been refined, we'll create a physical wax model for you to review in person.
Unlike a digital rendering, the wax model allows you to experience your ring's scale, proportions, setting height, and three-dimensional details.
Together, we'll review the overall design, band width, profile, prong placement, and decorative elements.
If something doesn't feel quite right, we can revisit the CAD design, make adjustments, and create another wax model for your review.
Unlimited wax models are included before final approval, allowing you to take the time needed to feel confident in your design.
Once you are happy with every detail, you'll approve your final physical wax model before we begin production.
4. Thoughtfully Crafted, Just for You
With your final design approved, your ring is ready to be brought to life.
We partner with an established, family-owned manufacturer specializing in CAD development, casting, assembly, and stone setting.
This trusted partnership allows us to combine the personalized experience of a boutique jeweler with experienced craftsmanship and careful attention to detail.
Your ring is crafted according to your approved design, using your selected metal, center stone, and setting details.
Manufacturing typically takes approximately 30 business days after final design approval and order authorization. Stone selection and design development require additional time.
Throughout the process, we'll keep you informed as your design progresses, when approvals are needed, and when your ring is ready.
5. The Moment It All Comes Together
Once your ring is complete, our team carefully inspects the finished piece to ensure it reflects your approved design.
We'll review the setting, finishing, alignment, stone security, and ring size before inviting you into the store.
Then comes the best part: seeing your finished engagement ring for the first time.
You'll have the opportunity to try on your ring, admire the details, and ask any final questions.
The result is more than a beautiful piece of jewelry. It's something thoughtfully designed, made specifically for you, and created to celebrate a moment you'll remember forever.
